Introducing Puzmat team - Bryn Powell & Nick Cakebread

The Great Game team - Bryn Powell & Nick Cakebread

Both from Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom we've been friends since meeting each other in year 4 of Bedford Modern School.

Containers Hostel Edinburgh

After graduating from Leeds and Nottingham Trent University we set up Containers Hostel a yearly summer hostel in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and the first in the world to be made from shipping containers!

The Great Game

This led us to a problem of what to do with the rest of the year? So we launched Escape London which sent Londoners on mystery day trips outside of London. Through this we were asked to do a treasure hunt which is where The Great Game was born and slowly what Escape London turned into. Starting with a single route in The City of London we have grown to cities across the UK and places as far abroad as Myanmar!

Lover View Hotel Myanmar

Why Myanmar? After many a rainy summer at the hostel in Edinburgh we were looking to do a hostel in the sun. We fell in love with Burma backpacking around the country in 2016 and returned in 2017 to take over Lover View Hotel in Ngwe Saung Beach. Now renamed Lover View Pool Bar & Bungalows we have put our own stamp on it and have just launched The Great Game Ngwe Saung Beach.

Puzmat

During the Covid-19 pandemic the lockdown of pubs and restriction of movement brought sales of our treasure hunts to a stop overnight. Knowing we had to diversify to survive we produced Puzmat as a product to sell whatever the restrictions. Today its become one of our main lines and we intend to produce a whole series translating it into many different languages!

North America

In late 2022 we launched in North America and Europe with many more markets to come!

We will be expanding The Great Game & Puzmat to more exciting locations and markets watch this space! You might also find us back on a Burmese beach one day in the future!
